The Climate Change and Watershed Management training was provided to the journalists of Khotang and Okhaldhunga districts on 1-2 August 2022. The main objective of the training was to encourage journalists to report on environmental issues by making them aware of climate change issues, the importance of watershed management, and disaster risk management. The event was attended by 29 journalists from Okhaldhunga and Khotang districts, including four women. Attendees came from print, radio, online, and television outlets covering both local and national news.
The first day of the event focused on project briefings, developmental journalism in climate change and watershed management, feature writing concepts and skills, global to national climate change scenarios, and multi-hazards in the lower Dudh Koshi watershed. On the second day, a field visit was conducted in the Khotang district’s Mangaltar, Halesi-5, and 6 to observe project interventions and report from a journalistic standpoint.
